Stobi Winery is a proud witness to the evolution of the wine tradition in these areas - from the wine cellars enjoyed by the inhabitants of Stobi, through the machines in which it was transported to the great ancient metropolises, to the modern stainless steel vessels and the sophisticated oak barrels in which the wine is today is produced and ripens.

Stobi winery
Location
Only 80 kilometers from Skopje, located between the eternal sun and the endless vine plantations, the best-kept secret of the wine trade in Tikveš region is hidden - Stobi Winery. The place that connects the Mediterranean with the continental regions of the Balkans, anchored by the mythical rivers Axios and Erigon, along which Roman legions, crusader knights, Ottoman conquerors and armies from the world wars once walked, today is a center where the Old and New Worlds of wine meet.
Region
The Stobi winery is located in the central part of Macedonia, in the most famous vineyard - Tikvesh. In the Tikvesh vineyard, about 12,000 hectares are planted under vines, which represents approximately one third of the total area under vines in Macedonia.
Vineyards
The essence of wine and what everything starts from is the grape. That is why we pay exceptional attention to our vineyards. Every year we invest in raising new vines and for the last two years we have planted 60 hectares with vines coming from one of the most recognized institutions in the world, Vivai Cooperativi Rauscedo – from Friuli, Italy. When it comes to wine, we have only the highest criteria.
Climate
Due to the intersection of two climates, Mediterranean from the south and continental from the north, this area is one of the most suitable for the cultivation of vines and wine production in the entire Balkan peninsula. The total annual temperature sum during the vegetation is 5300°C – 5500°C, the precipitation is 500-600 liters per square meter and the maximum daily temperature during July and August is about 40°C. However, with the application of the most modern ampelotechnical measures and the good texture of the soil, the vines are constantly supplied with water, and the northern winds provide natural protection against cryptogram diseases.
Technology
But knowledge would be nothing without the appropriate technology. The latest and most modern, fully automated technology is what allows us to maintain and preserve the quality not only of our grapes, but also of our wines. All the installed technology comes from Italy and Germany, including companies like GIMAR TECNO, SIPREM, GORTANI, DALLA TORRE IMPIANTI, PALL filtration systems, etc. The wine filling line comes from KRONES AG and has a capacity of 5,000 bottles per hour and can work with five bottle formats (1l stelvin, 1l cork, 0.750l, 0.5l, 0.187l bottle).
Our grape
This unique vineyard also has its own local, traditional varieties that are well known. So, the most famous grape variety is the Vranec variety, which accounts for almost 50% of the total vineyards planted with red grapes. However, this region has also proven to be an excellent breeding ground for international grape varieties, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Shiraz, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Muscat, Riesling, Traminec and many others. The capacity of the wine cellar is 4,500,000 liters, of which 1,200,000 liters are intended for fermentation. The first step to obtaining top quality wine is the quality of the grapes. To ensure top quality, production is based exclusively on grapes grown on our own vineyards, which cover an area of around 600 hectares and include white varieties such as Žilavka, Župljanka, Rkatsiteli, Rhine Riesling, Italian Riesling, Chardonnay, Muscat Ottonel and red varieties such as Pinot Noir, Vranec, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Shiraz, Petit Verdot, etc.
